Arancini: Italian Rice Balls

METHOD

Step 1: To make Arborio rice creamy and soft we cook it well in broth. To get better texture it is important that it should be completely cold first.

Step 2: To enhance the flavor, add mozzarella cheese or any other fillings of your choice to the cold rice and mix well.

Step 3: Use your hands to make golf ball sized shapes from this mixture. 

Step 4: For getting a crispy texture, coat these balls nicely. For coating, first coat it with flour, then coat it with beaten egg and lastly coat it with breadcrumbs.

Step 5: Preheat oil to 375o F. Fry the arancini until they are crisp and golden which should take around 3-4 minutes. 

Step 6: Marinara sauce can be used to further boost the flavor when serving hot arancini.

TIPS

  • To maintain the shape, keep the rice balls in the fridge for 15-20 minutes first. This way their shape will not get spoiled while frying.
  • Oil-free is a healthy option. If you bake it at 375o F for 20-25 minutes, it will be crispy and will be healthy for you too.
  • You have the option to prepare this in an air fryer. Cook by air fry at 375o F approximately for 12-15 minutes.
