How to Make the Famous Italian Custard (Pastry Cream)

Custard is a very tasty and delicious dessert. It always looks delicious with other desserts and also without anything else. We can use custard in many ways such as in filling of cake, puff pastry, sponge cakes and cream puffs. To cook custard, you only need some ingredients like milk, sugar, flour and eggs.

METHOD

Step 1: Pour milk in the saucepan with orange peel and salt. Heat them together at low flame on a stove.

Step 2: Now in another pan, take the flour or cornstarch with sugar then add eggs one by one and whisk well.

Step 3: When milk gets warm, add a cup to the bowl and frequently mix it to avoid lumping. After that, add this mixture in the saucepan of milk.

Step 4: Frequently, stir it for 1 minute until it becomes thick, smooth and start bubbling.

Step 5: Now turn off the heat and add vanilla in it. Discard the orange peel. And pour this custard mixture in a bowl.

Step 6: Cover the bowl with plastic or wax wrap and refrigerate it for a few hours before serving.
