Limoncello: My Nonna’s Calabrese Version

Grandma’s Lemoncello is the best. Not only because it is her recipe but also because it is so delicious that everyone likes it. This recipe contains just four ingredients. Granulated sugar, pure alcohol, fresh organic lemons from my garden and a whole lot of love. Next we will tell its ingredients, quantity and method of preparation.

14 oz Untreated Lemon Peel (From Organic Lemons)
17 fl oz of 190 Proof Everclear
1 Liter of Water

METHOD

Prepare the Lemonade

Step 1: Wash and dry the lemons. Peel the lemon from the peeler, do not take the white part as it can be bitter.

Mix the Peels

Step 2: Now we are going to take an airtight container and we are going to add lemon peels and 90 proof alcohol in it. Dry the mixture in a cool area for seven days.

Prepare the Syrup

Step 3: Now after a week we will make the stock by boiling water and sugar and let it cool down completely.

Combine and Bottle

Step 4: Now we mix cold syrup alcohol and lemon peels in the mixture. Strain the mixture and pour the limoncello into bottles.

Alcohol Adjustment Guide

Step 5: If you have 190 proof and clear i.e. 95 percent alcohol. And if you need 90 proof alcohol, you have to dilute it.For this, mix 473 ml of Everclear with 27 ml of water and make 500 ml of 90 proof alcohol.
